Our Story



THE JOURNEY

House of Hope was a vision that Pastor Richard Lewis had since 1997 while serving as the pastor of Greater Faith Baptist Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. In 2000, Pastor Lewis resigned from Greater Faith to pursue his God-given vision.

astor Lewis returned to Denver and founded House of Hope. God worked through the first lady when she made the right phone call to the Best Western Hotel in Denver. As we worshipped in one of the conference rooms, God began to multiply, deliver, and fill the congregation with the Holy Spirit. We started to outgrow the conference room and soon found ourselves looking for a new location.

God continued to add to our growth, and with much prayer, we were located in Aurora, Colorado, in our own building. We worshipped our Lord and made as much noise as we wanted! We were known as “The Little Church on the Corner!”

Staying true to our vision and obeying God’s Word, House of Hope grew to over 100 people. A matter of months later, we were once again looking for a bigger building. God miraculously moved us into a much bigger building a few blocks away on the old Lowry AFB, located at 991 Alton Way. As fate would have it, the boiler went out, and we had to move again. Unfortunately, that would not be our last move. However, God kept multiplying, and we grew to over 300 people. Over the years, over 800 people have joined the ministry.

Many people have come and gone, but we thank God for the faithful people who continue to stand with House of Hope. We have experienced both mountain-top moments and valley moments, but God has continued to be with us. We have made it through unexpected moves, recessions, economic crashes, and our biggest challenge, the pandemic. God has been with us every step of the way, and I know that He is not done with us yet. We are still the Church of Unconditional Love, and most importantly, we are still giving God the Glory. The best is yet to come!
